What is involved in an executive carpet cleaning package?

The Executive carpet clean is the most thorough of our carpet cleans and removes the most amount of dry particulate, odours and oily soils than any other clean.

First, we start by attacking the dry particulate. This is the dust and allergens that cause allergic reactions and most hayfever type symptoms in the home. This is done with our industrial vacuum. The vacuum has a specialised machine head that spins a motor driven brush, which actually scubs the carpet fibre. This removes the dirt and dust. It and does not blow out the fine particulate into the air. It retains it in 2 seperate filters that stop the tiny particles that affect us. These are called HEPA filters.

Once the carpet has been vacuumed we then set to work on examining any stains, gum or mould in the carpet. We apply products in combinations used only by our company ensuring that we can get the best result before the steam clean.

After we have treated the stains we then move on to the main clean. This is where we apply the appropriate detergent suited for your carpet. The products help remove soil safely especially if they are wool. After we have applied the product we then set about scrubbing your carpet with our fibre safe CRB (Counter Rotating Brush). This allows all sides of the fibre to be coated in our detergent, breaking down the oils and soils that make the carpet look, feel and smell bad. We let this dwell for a short time to break down as much as possible.

After letting the product dwell we then attach our extraction and solution hoses to our extraction wand and set about extracting the oily soils with hot water. Don't worry it doesn't hurt your carpet as carpet needs a lot more heat than boiling water to hurt it. The truckmounted or van mounted machine, in our case, then after suspending the oily soils , lifts the dirt, oil, and odour causing bacteria out of the carpet. The suction from our petrol driven machine is so intense it only leaves the carpet damp not soaked.

Then, with the wave of our specialised deodriser booster, we fill add a customeised deodoriser that all of our customers love.

The great thing about our service is that it comes with 14 day warranty for any spots and spill you make after the clean. If you want your carpet to look, feel and smell great again call us today on 46358045.

How to remove pet urine from your carpet?

how to remove pet urine from your carpet?

There is nothing worse that seeing or even stepping in a pet accident. They're not just unsightly, but can also cause major odour problems down the road. These can cause your house to smell and let your friends and family in for a suprise when you open the door to welcome them with a waft or ammonia and bacteria to greet them.

Lets cut to the 'how to'. We need to break this into 2 parts; Fresh and Dry. These are the processes for each one. Remember this is a recommendation and first check any products recommended in an area that doesn't matter if it loses colour, like in a built in cupboard or an old off cut.

           Fresh Pet Accidents

These are usually the easiest to remove.

Grab a lot of paper towel, at least 20 pieces and stack them.

Apply to the area. If it doesnt fit the area you may need to do this with 2 stacks of paper towel.

Place something heavy like a kettle bell, barbell weight or something that is going to apply equal pressure on the paper towel. Even a rock/brick on a handtowel in a frypan... yes it has been used before.

Leave it there for about an hour and repeat.

The results should be soaked paper towel that you just dispose of. Generally with small dogs and most cats you will only need to do this twice and the secondtime will have little residue in it. If it is a larger dog it can take up to 3 or 4 applications.

           Dry Pet Accidents

For dry accidents the steps are same... "but its dry!" I hear you say. Not for long. You will need a cup of warm, body temperature water and a small bottle of 3-6% peroxide from the chemist. Add about 50mls into a jug along with the cup of warm water. Pour it onto the pet accident slowly. You are trying to replicate the action of the pet creating the accident with a continuos small flow and body temperature water.

The next step is to wait 15 minutes to allow it to seep into the areas the urnine is at. The peroxide will start to destroy the bacteria aiding in odour control and also reversing staining caused by celluloise from the backing ior urochrome from the urine. This may froth and bubble a little bit. This is the peroxide reacting with proteins in the urine as well as bacteria.

Now do the steps that you would for a fresh pet accident.

Remember this is great to improve it, but it will never be as good as a profesional carpet cleaner can achieve. If the odour is really bad and the stain persists, make sure that you contact your carpet cleaning professional.

5 Carpet cleaning tips every home owner needs to know

With so many people living a busy lifestyle, keeping your home clean and organised is no easy task. It’s great to be able to keep your carpets clean and fresh with regular carpet cleaning (we recommend at least every 12 months), but what do you do in between your regular carpet cleans to keep your carpet in good condition?

We share our top five tips to keep your carpets looking their best.

Carpet Cleaning Tip #1 - Not wearing shoes inside makes your carpets dirtier

Yes, you read that correctly. NOT wearing shoes inside makes your carpets dirtier. Many people are surprised when they hear that wearing shoes inside can be a good thing. Of course, that shoe should be an ‘inside only’ shoe.

Wearing shoes on carpet means that you can bring toxins in from wherever you have been, but body oils and sweat from your feet and socks actually transfers to the carpet. These oils are sticky and mean more dirt sticks to the oils - which ultimately makes your carpet dirtier quicker. Mind blown. Given this, ideally inside slippers (that don’t go outside to the clothes line) would be best.

Carpet Cleaning Tip #2 - Not all carpet cleaners are the same

Three things are needed to ensure the very best quality carpet cleaning for your home.

The best equipment (ideally a truck mounted steam cleaner).

The best products. Great products are expensive and a lot of carpet cleaners avoid excessive costs but also avoid delivering the best results to their customers by using inferior products. Ensure the quality of your carpets by using a carpet cleaner who can tell you all about the products they use and what makes them a quality carpet cleaning product.

Trained technicians. Without understanding the makeup of carpet and the science of how products react to soils and fibres, the result will always be hit and miss. Trained carpet cleaning technicians will ensure you receive a consistent, high quality job, every time.

Carpet Cleaning Tip #3 - Water based paints and pens doesn't mean they wash out with water

Water based household paints have a resin in them that is still oily. The difference is that they are water soluble. When it comes to kids paints and markers this is the same. They are water soluble but still have pigments that can permanently stain carpets.

Carpet Cleaning Tip #4 - Not all stains are removable

Many customers think that any stain can be removed but unfortunately when a colour from food dye in food, wood stain in furniture or paints and inks touch carpet, they can be permanent. Some wool and acid dyed nylons can be bleached out and the acid dyes in the carpet replaced but these are not always successful. Dyes on all other carpets are colourfast and are permanent.

Carpet Cleaning Tip #5 - Why you shouldn't use bi-carb soda and vinegar on wool carpets

Wool carpet is very resilient and will last a long time structurally. However, because it is a natural fibre it can be broken down easily. Google and YouTube have many blogs, videos and forums giving advice like using vinegar, bicarb soda or a combination of both. Why is this a bad idea? Wool is temperamental and can only withstand products with a pH of between 4.5 to 8.5. This is why, when cleaning wool carpets you must use wool safe products. Wool safe products are always in the required PH levels, to ensure the integrity of your wool carpet. Anything below 4.5 pH, like vinegar which is between 2 and 3 pH, can damage the wool. Anything above this PH level can cause it to go yellow - like bicarb soda which is between 9 and 10 pH. Anything in the extreme levels, such as bleach (which is a pH of 11 to 13) will ultimately melt the wool before your eyes. If you have a stain make sure you

What do we actually clean in a carpet clean?

What parts of the carpet are we cleaning?

          Generally when

we think of a carpet clean we are imagining the carpet looking, feeling and smelling fresh and clean and in some cases our customers have an expectation that it looks new again. Unfortunately, making it look new again is an impossibility after use as the fibres will be damaged from microscopic crushing and scratches. However, this doesn't mean that a carpet clean can't make the carpet look better than what it was dirty.

What gets cleaned in a carpet clean?

Let's first break down the structure of the carpet. Generally most carpet, except for wovens like axminster or carpet tiles, have a primary backing that the carpet fibres are attached to and a secondary backing that is glued onto it to lock the fibres in. The fibres can either be looped so they look rounded on top or tufted/plush where is feels soft and the fibres have been trimmed. This all sits on a foam underlay. Dirt and other dry particulates fall into the fibres and through the primary and secondary backing onto the underlay. The dirt that gets caught in the fibres is mainly caught their due to oils that are coated on the fibres from conatminants on shoes and also body oils and sweat from bare feet and socks.

The soils stuck on the body oils are what make the carpet look dirty and the carpet steam clean is removing these. The carpet clean is called a surface clean. It only removes or attempts to remove oily soils from the fibre only. The primary and secondary backing should not get wet except for the case of stain removal where more complex measures need to be taken. Moisture in the backings can cause excessive wicking by soils caught in the backing and on top of the underlay. This means the soils in the backing travel up the attached damp fibres. The tips of the carpet now have a light layer of soil on top which can be visible. This action happens with a noraml carpet clean, but not in a major way like when a carpet is over wet. Some customers like to impress that their carpet has not been cleaned properly by rubbing a white cloth over it to show the inadequacies of the clean. From 20 years of experience these are either neurotic, uniformed or have a case of the Dunning Kruger effect. However, light soil on a cloth is normal as not all soils can be removed as we are dealing with a multitude of microoscopic particles. Additionally, if the carpet was heavily soiled prior you can expect a lot of soil on a cloth. A visual inspection is the most rational way to identify whether the carpet is clean.

How to remove as much dirt from the carpet as possible?

So we ahve covered the carpet fibre clean. What if you want to go further and removal 99.9% of the dry particulates. Well this is called a rug wash. This is where the carpet is removed from the tacstrip and taken to a facility where there is a wash area. The carpet is washed and rinsed and eventually spun in a machine to remove as much soil as possible. This is exactly how a rug is cleaned. Now, the issue with this is that the carpet cleaning cost has now gone from a room rate to the rate of the whole property being cleaned (if not more) for just one room which of course includes attending site, removal of carpet, transport, cleaning, delivering and reinstalling. Of course we hope that no damage occurs to glued and taped sections in al of the processes.

To conclude the carpet clean is only the fibre. To make sure you have the best results from your carpet clean ensure that vacuum regularly.
